WASHER PROBLEMS
Problem 1 — Won't Drain Standing water in the drum after a cycle almost always points to a clogged drain pump filter, a kinked drain hose, or a failing drain pump. It's one of the most common calls we get — and usually one of the more straightforward fixes.
Problem 2 — Won't Spin A washer that fills and washes but won't spin is often a lid switch issue on top-loaders, or a door latch fault on front-loaders. It can also point to a worn drive belt or a failing motor coupling. We'll find which one it is..
Problem 4 — Won't Start or Complete a Cycle If your washer powers on but won't begin a cycle — or starts and stops partway through — the issue is often a control board fault, a failed thermal fuse, or a problem with the door or lid latch sending the wrong signal.
Problem 5 —Error Codes on the Display Front-load washers, especially LG, Samsung, Whirlpool, and Maytag — throw error codes when something isn't right. Common ones we see:
LG: OE (drain error), UE (unbalanced load), LE (motor fault), dE (door error)
Samsung: 4E/4C (water supply issue), 5E/5C (drain error), UB (unbalanced), dC (door error)
Whirlpool/Maytag: F5 E2 (door latch), F8 E1 (water supply), F0 E2 (load sense issue)
Problem 6 — Excessive Vibration or Loud Banging Some vibration is normal. Loud banging, walking across the floor, or rattling that wasn't there before usually means the load is unbalanced, the drum bearings are worn, or the shock absorbers need replacement.
DRYER PROBLEMS
Problem 7 — No Heat or Not Enough Heat. This is the most common dryer complaint we hear. On electric dryers, this usually means a blown thermal fuse, a failed heating element, or a faulty cycling thermostat. On gas dryers, it's often the igniter, the flame sensor, or the gas valve coils. We work on both.
Problem 8 — Takes Multiple Cycles to Dry One Load. Before you assume the dryer is broken, check the vent. A clogged dryer vent restricts airflow so severely that even a perfectly functioning dryer can't do its job. If the vent is clear and the problem persists, we'll look at the heating system and moisture sensors.
Problem 9 — Won't Start A dryer that has power but won't start usually points to a blown thermal fuse, a faulty door switch, or a failed start switch. These are typically quick diagnostics and straightforward repairs.
Problem 10 — Squealing, Squeaking, or Grinding Noises A high-pitched squeal during operation almost always means a worn drum support roller or a failing idler pulley. A grinding sound can point to worn drum glides or bearings. These noises tend to get worse if ignored — and eventually stop the drum entirely.
Problem 11 — Shuts Off Mid-Cycle If your dryer starts but stops before the load is dry, a clogged vent is the first thing to rule out. Overheating from restricted airflow triggers the thermal cutoff, shutting the unit down as a safety measure. If the vent is clear, we'll look at the cycling thermostat and control board.
